Travel retail, which includes duty-free areas in airports, city centers, airlines, cruises and border stores, is one of the cosmetics company's fastest-growing sales channels, according to Estée Lauder Companies (ELC). Last year, the division contributed 28% of sales, it said.

"Travel Retail continues to prove its resilience and has delivered tremendous growth for The Estée Lauder Companies over the last decade. We remain very confident about this channel, especially as travel restrictions ease around the world and people start traveling again," says Fabrizio Freda, President and CEO of ELC.

To further expand the division, ELC has opened a distribution center in Galgenen in the canton of Schwyz. The new 300,000-square-foot facility doubles the division's total production capacity, ELC says.

The company currently has four distribution centers in Switzerland, and the "EMEA and Travel Retail Supply Chain Management Hub" is located in Wollerau.
