Manor closes three department stores
While further investments are to be made in large, high-frequency locations, continued operation in Delémont, Wohlen and Sargans is not economically viable.

The Manor department store group is closing its stores in Delémont, Wohlen and Sargans. The closure is expected to take place from the first quarter of next year and will include a supermarket and restaurant in each case. However, the outcome of the consultation process remains to be seen. The company writes that «considerable investment would be required to meet structural requirements and ensure long-term operation, which would not be economically viable». The owners are reportedly examining alternative uses. Manor also intends to hand over its restaurant in Haag to Coop in mid-2027.
At the same time, the chain has announced that it will be investing a total of around CHF 200 million in large, high-traffic locations over the next three years. Extensive fashion areas have already been renovated in Basel, Lausanne, Vevey, Lugano and Geneva. This year, further department stores will be modernized in Emmen, Lucerne and Pfäffikon.
