Neuhausen: Start of construction for hotel at the Rhine Falls this year
Fortimo specifies the plans for the 144-room hotel, which is to be operated by the Revier Hotels chain.
The largest hotel in the Schaffhausen region is to be built in Neuhausen am Rheinfall by 2029. According to the initiators, the «Revier Hotel Rheinfall» combines traditional accommodation with event tourism. Building permission has been granted for the planned hotel project on the SIG site above the Rhine Falls. The client is the Fortimo Group. The future hotel will be operated by the Revier Hospitality Group and aims to score points in particular with an indoor surfing facility that is open to the public.
A combination of a new eight-storey building and a renovated industrial building is planned. The Neuhausen/Rheinfall train station is reportedly just under five minutes« walk away. It comprises 144 rooms and studios with a total of 378 beds for individual and business travelers, including long-stay apartments for up to four people. »Numerous rooms offer a partial view of the Rhine Falls," writes Fortimo in a press release.
Opening planned for 2029
The indoor surfing facility is planned for the lower two floors of the new building and will also be available to the public. A seminar and event area for up to 250 people is also planned.
The offer also includes a restaurant, a cocktail bar with a view of the Rhine Falls, a lounge and an event room with a stage. Construction is set to begin in 2026, with the opening scheduled for 2029.
The starting point for the hotel project was an architectural competition initiated jointly by the SIG Charitable Foundation and the Fortimo Group in November 2019. A total of 12 teams of architects were invited. The architectural firm Joos & Mathys emerged as the winner. As the Rhine Falls are included in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance, it was necessary to further develop the indicative project, according to Fortimmo. In particular, the front part of the existing building was retained and integrated into the final concept.
