Last week, the developers marked the official start of construction on the Brisgi site in Baden with five symbolic foundation stones from the excavation. Around 220 rental apartments for single people, couples and families are to be built on the 6.5-hectare site by 2028 - at affordable conditions, according to the city of Baden.

Three non-profit organizations

The project is being implemented jointly by three non-profit organizations: Wohnbaustiftung Baden, Logis Suisse AG and Graphis Bau- und Wohngenossenschaft. Each of the three sponsors is taking over one of the three clusters, including the associated courtyard. According to Logis Suisse, 83 of the total of around 220 apartments are located in the West cluster. The laying of the foundation stone was attended by Mayor Markus Schneider, representatives of the three sponsors and members of the neighborhood.

The project is to be built in accordance with the Swiss Sustainable Building Standard (SNBS), with hybrid construction, renewable energy and low soil sealing. Regionalwerke AG Baden is also expected to connect the site to the district heating network by May. The housing estate will be complemented by studios, green spaces, a neighborhood square and a playground.
The Brisgi site is located between the Baden-Brugg train line and the banks of the Limmat, around 2.5 km from the city center. Immobilienbusiness.ch first reported on the project in November 2016, when the project competition was decided: The planning team Meier Leder Architekten from Baden and Müller Sigrist Architekten from Zurich came out on top at the time with their «Kandalama» project.
