As the owner, Swiss Prime Site has been transforming the former site of the NZZ printing plant into a "think and work tank for business, industry and commerce" for four years now, as Urs Baumann, CIO Swiss Prime Site Immobilien, says. The initial occupancy rate is gratifyingly high, which proves that large and interacting spaces are in great demand.

The new building, for which the foundation stone has now been laid, is being built on a reserve of land on the site. It will offer a leasable area of 14,000 sqm on five floors and is aimed at tenants who have a need for large, contiguous as well as flexible spaces. According to the project plan, the new building should be ready for occupancy from mid-2024.

The anchor tenants in the existing buildings are the service company Zühlke and the real estate company Halter, while Superlab Suisse and Flexoffice will join them in the new building. The two companies offer space as a service.

Superlab Suisse is aimed at young companies from the life science sector and offers them fully equipped laboratories. The site at JED will be the third operated by Superlab Suisse after Lausanne and Basel (from 2023).

Flexoffice already offers fully equipped office space for SMEs in several Swiss cities and is now planning another location on the JED campus. (ah)
