On the roof of the Lokwerk shopping center in Winterthur-Töss, the owner, Credit Suisse Real Estate Fund Green Property, is creating new living space. After initial work on the 60 rental apartments began in October 2021, the three floors are now ready for interior construction. Construction is taking place with prefabricated wooden elements in a load-bearing steel framework.

FSP Architects from Spreitenbach and engineers from Erne, a company specializing in timber construction, developed the total of 898 wooden elements. They are up to 3.20 meters high and 2.80 meters wide and weigh a total of around 2,000 tons. They already contain all the lines needed for sanitary and electrical installations. The wooden elements are anchored to a 90-ton steel frame.

According to the initiators, interest in the apartments is very high: 500 people had already registered and expressed interest in one of the 60 apartments before the marketing launch, which began recently. The apartment mix consists of three 1.5-room, 28 2.5-room, 20 3.5-room and nine 4.5-room apartments. First occupancy is expected in early June 2023. (ah)
