On March 1, 2022, construction work will start on the new Bubenberg Center at Bubenbergplatz 10-12 in Bern. The new building is designed as an office building with retail and gastronomy areas on all floors. On the first floor, a new train station access will be created, which will lead into the new passenger underpass of the Bern train station. This will make the Bubenberg Center the second most important access point to the transportation hub alongside the main entrance.

In addition to the rail access, the planned use consists of more than 4,200 square meters of office space, 365 square meters of retail space, 450 square meters of restaurant space, and 1,100 square meters of technical and storage space. Lease tenders are expected to start in spring 2022. The new building is scheduled for completion in fall 2024, after which tenant fit-out will take place until early 2025.

The project will cost a total of around CHF 44 million. Around 12 million of this is for the rail access and will be paid for by SBB Infrastructure. The remaining 32 million will be financed by SBB Real Estate. (ah)
