These days, investors Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn (RBS) and Futura Vorsorge as well as the municipality of Ittigen and real estate developer and total contractor Losinger Marazzi laid the foundation stone for the "Metropark" project. 55 rental apartments and around 5,700 square meters of office space, 1,000 square meters of retail space and 340 square meters of commercial space are being built right next to Worblaufen RBS station. The space should be ready for occupation from fall 2027.

Losinger Marazzi began demolition work in November 2024 and excavation of the construction pit has been underway since the beginning of March 2025. The first stage of the project comprises three new buildings designed by Holzer Kobler Architekturen from Zurich. The new station square is being created between the Metropark buildings and Worblaufenstrasse.

Second construction phase includes office space

In a second stage, the existing high-rise building will be renovated and extended. The "Metrohaus" will provide office and commercial space on two floors as well as around 100 apartments. The rail and bus transport specialist RBS has had its administrative headquarters at Worblaufen station for over 50 years and will relocate its headquarters to the new office building. "We are looking forward to moving into our office location in the new building from 2027 - in the center of what is probably the canton's greenest development focus," says RBS Director Fabian Schmid. The building also includes rental space for third parties. Lidl Switzerland will also open a branch in the Metropark.

The residential buildings with 30 and 25 apartments and one commercial space each on the first floor were acquired by Futura Vorsorge. Marketing of the rental space and apartments will start in fall 2026. The two residential properties will have wooden facades and meet the Minergie-P standard.
