Colliers International plans market entry

The real estate consulting firm Colliers International is planning to enter the Swiss market with its own country office. The office opening is scheduled to take place as early as the first half of 2020.

"The time is ripe. We want to set up our own company in Switzerland," Matthias Leube tells IMMOBILIEN Business. Leube has been CEO of Colliers International in Germany since 2017 and, in this position, is also primarily responsible for the business in the D-CH region. Currently, initial talks are underway to establish the new Swiss team, with further talks planned, Leube said. Initially, offices will be located in Zurich and Geneva.

"The model will be the same as usual: The local team can receive shares in our company," says Leube. This is also one of the features that distinguishes Colliers from the other large consulting firms, he said. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange Nasdaq and currently has 400 offices in 68 countries.

Until now, Colliers International was only represented in Switzerland by license partners. The most recent license partner was CSL Immobilien AG for many years. This partnership was terminated at the beginning of 2019. The background to this is the entry of Migros Bank, which acquired a majority stake in CSL in mid-2018.

Colliers International's range of services includes the global leasing and sale of office, commercial, hotel, industrial, logistics and retail properties, specialist markets, residential buildings and land. In addition, there are the areas of real estate valuation, financing advice, consulting and corporate real estate solutions.

In Switzerland, Colliers wants to be active in the commercial real estate business in the classic asset classes. Another focus here will be, for example, the institutional residential real estate business, i.e. trading in residential complexes, explains Leube. (mr)
