As reported by the «Neue Zürcher Zeitung», the traditional watch store Beyer Chronometrie at Bahnhofstrasse 31 is to close. At the end of this year, the watch brand Patek Philippe, which already operates as a cooperation partner of Beyer, will take over the business.

Beyer Chronometrie claims to be the oldest watch store in the world. It has been at its current address in the Orell-Füssli-Hof for almost 100 years. Before that, the retailer operated at Bahnhofstrasse 25 for 50 years, and the company's history stretches back more than 250 years. Last year, company patriarch René Beyer, the seventh generation of the family to run the company, passed away.

According to IB research, the property at Bahnhofstrasse 31 belongs to UBS AG. (aw)
