Geneva: Pictet to build new headquarters in Carouge

The private bank Pictet has commissioned the architectural firm Designlab-architecture to design the "Campus Pictet de Rochemont" in Geneva, which will include 100 apartments in addition to the bank's new headquarters.

The new location of the private bank Pictet is to be built in the Geneva district of Carouge from September 2021. For this purpose, Pictet is constructing the 90-meter high new building "Campus Pictet de Rochemont". The new bank headquarters will, like among others Bilan reports, will cover 54,000 square meters and provide space for 2,500 workplaces. Plans include a crèche and fitness center, and the site will also include a 700-seat auditorium that can be used for external conferences and cultural events. Further ,around 100 apartments with a total area of 10,000 sqm are planned.

No information was provided on the cost of the project; Bilan but estimates it at CHF 640 million, at a price of CHF 10,000/sq. m. and a total floor area of 64,000 sq. m. The building is scheduled to be ready for occupancy in 2025.

Pictet originally planned to announce the winner of the architecture competition in the spring, but there was a three-month delay due to the Corona pandemic. In addition to the winner from dl-a designlab architecture, second prize went to E2A from Zurich and third prize to Graber Pulver, also from Zurich.

Pictet had entered into an agreement with the City of Geneva at the end of 2019 under which it secured the building rights to a block of houses to be built as part of the large-scale Praille Acacias Vernets (PAV) project. Over the next few decades, some 230 hectares will be redeveloped there; 40,000 jobs and 9,000 apartments are to be created. (ah)
