Zurich: Laying of the foundation stone for the last construction site of Europaallee
On September 14, the foundation stone was laid for the final construction phase of Zurich's Europaallee. On around 25,000 sqm, 170 rental apartments, office space for Google as well as stores and restaurants are being built.

Baufeld F is the last of the eight stages of SBB Immobilien's mammoth project. The investment volume is CHF 200 million.
Building area F consists of two parts: Next to Gustav-Gull-Platz, a free-standing, 50-meter-high main tower is being built. Along Europaallee, a building with two towers of 34 and 43 meters in height, standing on a plinth structure, is being erected. The public courtyard of this building is accessible from Europaallee and the new Stephensonweg. This new footpath will lead directly from platform 3 of Zurich's main train station to Langstrasse from summer 2019.
Trees will be planted in the 5,000 square meter Gustav Gull Square, and there will be seating and outdoor dining as well as a playable water area.
The 170 rental apartments are distributed between the main tower and the two towers above the base. The main tower will also house a daycare center with 36 places. The office space is located on the base floors, with stores and restaurants on the first floors. Google will use the 9,000 sqm of office space - the company is moving into a total of 50,000 sqm in Europaallee to further strengthen its Zurich location. Just under four years before the completion of Europaallee, all the service spaces have thus already been leased, SBB Immobilien reports.
The properties on construction site F meet the requirements for the "Seal of Approval for Sustainable Construction Gold". Boltshauser Architekten from Zurich are responsible for the architecture. Porr Suisse AG is responsible for realization. The buildings are scheduled to be ready for occupancy in spring 2019.
Half of the Europaallee is finished
At present, four of a total of eight stages - construction sites A, C, E and G - have been completed and occupied. In addition to construction area F, construction areas B, D and H are also under construction.
Completion of the entire site is planned for 2020. According to SBB Immobilien, around 13,000 people will then be in Europaallee every day: Students from the Zurich University of Teacher Education, Juventus and KV Business School, employees of Google, UBS, CS and Leonteq, as well as residents of the 400 apartments. In addition, there are visitors to more than 60 stores, restaurants and bars, the "Kosmos" cinema and cultural center, the 170-room "25hours" design hotel, the "Gustav" residence of the Di Gallo Group and the OBC Suisse business center.
