The Abendrot Foundation has acquired the property at Bielstrasse 109/111 in Solothurn. The building from the 1930s is considered a modernist architectural monument. The part of the building with the house number 109 comprises a garage and four residential floors, while Bielstrasse 111 consists of three residential floors, a "tea room" and a dance terrace. The complex was designed by the engineers Ernst and Hans Salzmann and the architect Walter Adam.

Between 1994 and 1996, the building was extensively renovated, the façade restored to its original color and the building envelope modernized. Since 2002, Touringhaus AG has been responsible for the maintenance of the residential and commercial premises.
Urgent renovations are not necessary, writes the Abendroth Foundation, which acquired the building in June. Smaller modernizations in the context of decarbonization - such as the connection to the district heating network and the centralization of hot water preparation - are to be implemented carefully.
