Major logistics project in Avenches
One of the largest logistics centers in western Switzerland is to be built in Avenches (VD). According to media reports, the furniture retailer Ikea has already been confirmed as the main tenant.

As the newspaper 24 Heures first reported, the companies Grisoni-Zaugg and Von Bergen want to build a logistics center in the industrial zone of Avenches. At 200 meters long, 100 meters wide and 26 meters high, it would be one of the largest logistics projects in the canton of Vaud.
The main tenant for the project has already been determined: the Swedish furniture company Ikea wants to occupy a maximum of 60 percent of the space by 2023. However, there are no plans for a furniture store; rather, Ikea wants to further develop its online business at the site.
However, in order for the project to be realized, the canton of Vaud must still repeal a provision that protects the old walls of the former Roman city and prohibits any construction activity. Subsequently, the parliament must confirm the exchange of the parcels. At the end of March, the project will be made available to the public.
