With a new branch concept, Zürcher Kantonalbank (ZKB) aims to combine advisory services with new areas such as a curated boutique, a bar for snacks and a forum as a place to meet and share knowledge, according to a statement. To that end, the site offers five different thematically linked areas: The Forum, the Lounge, the Boutique, the Bar and the Foyer.

In the forum, ZKB organizes events on topics such as living, starting a business and career, but also workshops for online and mobile banking, for example. The lounge is intended to be an "area for brainstorming, advice and individual planning for the future," according to the cantonal bank. Among other things, there is a real estate wall here that presents a selection of current construction projects financed by the bank. In the boutique, products from the lifestyle, culinary and office sectors are offered for sale in collaboration with the Zurich concept store "Einzigart." The bar offers drinks and snacks, and banking services for daily needs are available in the foyer. "We combine the best of banking with inspiring elements from other industries," says project manager Susanna von Känel.

The branch will serve as a model for other locations, regardless of their size, according to ZKB. The cantonal bank wants to test the new format for two years and observe how customers accept it. These findings will then be incorporated into the design of other branches in the network. (ah)
