La variante in legno composito selezionata prometteva un risparmio di emissioni di 50% rispetto a una costruzione convenzionale in cemento armato, anche grazie alla prefabbricazione degli elementi. Naturalmente, il problema delle emissioni in edilizia non riguarda solo i nuovi edifici, ma anche i progetti di ristrutturazione. Marc Lyon lo ha illustrato con il progetto \"Rue du Valais\" a Ginevra, dove un edificio per uffici, un \"bene incagliato\", \u00e8 stato trasformato in un immobile residenziale.
