Frutiger AG has received the legally binding building permit for the first stage of the Hoffmatte development in Thun (BE), as the company confirms on its project page. The start of construction is planned for the fall, with completion of the first stage scheduled for 2030. This means that a project that has been keeping the town, which has been suffering from a housing shortage for years, on track: 15 objections due to groundwater concerns had made the originally planned start of construction in the fall of 2025 impossible.<\/p>\n

The 35,700 square meter site will be home to 168 apartments and a care home with 128 places, which will be operated by the Solina Foundation. 90 of the apartments are planned as rental apartments; according to the \u00abBerner Zeitung\u00bb, the overall project is estimated to cost around CHF 130 million. The building application for the second stage is scheduled for the first half of 2027; the landowner of this part is Hoffmann Neopac AG, next to whose industrial buildings the new quarter is being built. The first stage comprises five residential buildings and the nursing home.<\/p>\n
