The Hotel Castell in Zuoz will be closed and renovated for around two years from spring 2026. \u00abIn addition to the restoration of historical architectural elements, the focus will be on investments in sustainable infrastructure, improved guest and staff areas and new family offers,\u00bb the operators write in a press release. The building application has been submitted.<\/p>\n

Hotel Castell has been owned by the hospitality group Artfarm since 2024. A comprehensive review last year revealed a considerable and urgent need for investment. The last renovation was over 20 years ago.<\/p>\n

In addition to the work in the hotel, outbuildings and technical facilities are also being modernized. A new geothermal heat pump is replacing the previous heating system and a photovoltaic system is being installed to generate solar energy. The aim is to make the Hotel Castell climate-neutral. Other improvements include the modernization of staff accommodation and back-of-house areas, the restoration of the rock pool and the creation of larger rooms for families. All guest rooms and public areas, including the reception, foyer and restaurant, will be redesigned. The exterior fa\u00e7ade and parts of the roof will be repaired and restored and the windows replaced to match the original design.<\/p>\n

The building application submitted in December is currently in the approval process. The reopening is planned within two years. The construction work is being carried out by Joos GPI, under the supervision of Winklmann Bauherrenvertretung. Artfarm was founded in 2014 by Iwan and Manuela Wirth, co-founders of the Hauser & Wirth art gallery.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
