(Image: Implenia)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In Norway, Implenia is working for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) on another section of the E39, a road that runs from Bergen to Trondheim. Specifically, Implenia has been commissioned to renovate and widen the road between Bj\u00f8set and Skei on the north side of Lake J\u00f8lstra. The section, which is used by around 3,500 vehicles a day, no longer meets the required road standard. The project includes the renewal of the surface and frost protection over a length of eleven kilometers and the partial widening of the lanes.<\/p>\n<p>Implenia will also build a new 6.5 km pedestrian and cycle path on the route from \u00c5rdal to Skei. This also includes the construction of five bridges, two of which can be used as pedestrian and cycle bridges. Work will begin in February 2017 and will be carried out without disrupting traffic. The project has an investment volume of the equivalent of CHF 38 million and is due to be opened to traffic in 2019.<\/p>\n<h2>Interchange near Stockholm<\/h2>\n<p>In Sweden, Implenia has been awarded the contract for another lot of the Stockholm city bypass F\u00f6rbifart. The company is building the Hjulsta S\u00f6dra project for the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket) together with the Norwegian company Veidekke. This interchange is being built close to the Johannelund Tunnel (lot FSE 403) and the Lunda Tunnel (lot FSE 410), which are also part of the city bypass and for which Implenia has sole responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium is building a freeway section around one kilometer long with two motorway bridges, each 650 m long. Both bridges cross the busy E18 highway, the M\u00e4larbanan railroad tracks, which will be extended during the construction period, and the B\u00e4llsta\u00e5n river. The infrastructure project also includes access ramps, a further 70 m long bridge and a 200 m tunnel. The contract is worth around CHF 80 million. Construction work will start in February 2017 and is expected to take around five years.
