The construction of the ALL laboratory building, for which the foundation stone was laid on October 30, 2024, is the third collaboration between the investor Senn and the architects Herzog & de Meuron on the Main Campus of the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area in Allschwil.<\/p>\n

The new building, which is to be SNBS Platinum certified, will be completed in 2027 and will then offer 20,500 square meters of laboratory and office space. The anchor tenant has already been confirmed: it is the Botnar Institute for Immune Engineering (BIIE), a research institute founded in June, which is being endowed by the Basel-based Botnar Foundation with 1 billion US dollars over 15 years - one of the highest amounts ever donated by a Swiss charitable foundation. The institute specializes in research into immunological systems and will develop translational solutions for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases in the coming years. BIIE's aim is to improve the lives of children and young people worldwide through research into the immune system.<\/p>\n

\"We were looking for a location for our institute that fully meets the high demands of the world's best researchers in the field of immune engineering,\" explained BIIE CEO Stephen Wilson at the groundbreaking ceremony, referring to the outstanding life sciences ecosystem that exists there. \"It has proven to be the best location for us globally,\" said Wilson.
