On the corner of Waldeggstrasse and Heinrich-Bosshardstrasse in Winterthur Seen, Terresta Immobilien- und Verwaltungs AG, which is part of the SKKG Foundation for Art, Culture and History, has built two new residential buildings in 18 months. They comprise a total of 32 apartments with 2.5 to 4.5 rooms. The buildings are constructed using a timber-hybrid construction method, are heated with geothermal probes and are equipped with a photovoltaic system on the roof. The buildings were planned and realized by Baumgartner Partner Architekten and Chaves Biedermann Landschaftsarchitekten. The costs amounted to around 13 million Swiss francs. The previously undeveloped site belongs to Belplan Immobilien AG, which is now wholly owned by SKKG.<\/p>\n

The 67 tenants of the 32 new apartments at Waldeggstrasse 12 and 14 have already moved in, reports project manager Sabine Angele. At 38 square meters per person, it is below the cantonal average of 45 square meters: \"Terresta has created urgently needed living space here and at the same time has made economical and efficient use of the available land.\"<\/p>\n

For the development - Terresta's first new building in 50 years - SKKG and Terresta held a joint competition for an art and construction project for the first time. The jury chose the \"M\u00fcselet\" project by Christian Gonzenbach. The sculpture, made from steel tubes, is a 100-fold enlargement of an animal that the artist has formed from a muselet - the French name for the wire basket that surrounds the cork of a sparkling wine. \"M\u00fcselet\" is the first art and construction project realized by Terresta. As the real estate division of SKKG, Terresta wants to give art a prominent place in major renovations and new buildings.
