Mali International AG Bern wants to develop the Wifag site on Wylerringstrasse in Bern into a mixed-use district. New buildings and a partial conversion of the Leinenweberei buildings are planned for this purpose. Realization is planned in three stages.<\/p>\n

The development regulations, which have now been approved by the municipal council, provide for eight building zones for the entire site. According to a statement from the City of Bern, a total of at least 80% of the permitted above-ground floor area is reserved for residential use, a third of which must be built as affordable housing and rented out at cost. In total, the new part of the district will offer around 360 apartments for around 800 residents. The majority of the first floors of the buildings are to be used for public-oriented uses that serve the neighborhood, including neighborhood stores. There are also plans for a shared underground parking garage for the district, with a maximum of 210 parking spaces.<\/p>\n

The development regulations also stipulate, among other things, that the fa\u00e7ades of new buildings must blend in with their surroundings. Green flat roofs are to be created - possibly combined with solar panels. Where possible, the new buildings should be connected to the district heating network.<\/p>\n
