According to the city, an additional loan of CHF 23.97 million is required. The city council originally approved CHF 49.55 million for the renovation of the facades.<\/p>\n<p>However, the construction preparations had shown that this budget was not sufficient. The concrete repairs, the new windows, the sun protection and the carpentry work would have been more expensive than planned, explains the city. Including reserves, this led to additional expenditure of almost CHF 21 million. Further additional costs will arise from the fact that the renovation of the underground garage ceiling will be brought forward. A further CHF 3 million has been budgeted for the planning of this work.<\/p>\n<p>The Hardau II development comprises four 72 to 93-metre-high residential towers and two four-storey rows of residential buildings with a total of 573 apartments as well as a commercial pavilion, a retirement center spread over two buildings and a retirement home run by the city's Foundation for Retirement Homes (SAW). Around 1,350 people live on the almost 33,000 square meter site on Bullingerstrasse and Norastrasse.<\/p>\n<p>The first stage of the fa\u00e7ade renovation began in July 2023.
