The decision in favor of the CHF 290 million project was clear with 99 votes in favor, one against and ten abstentions. The referendum on the construction loan is expected to take place in October 2026.<\/p>\n

The new security center is to be built by 2031 at a cost of CHF 290 million. It will be located near the train station in Rothenburg, a municipality in the Lucerne agglomeration. The five-story building, which will have space for 700 employees, will be the first integrated control center in Switzerland for blue-light coordination in no less than three cantons: Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden. In addition, departments of the public prosecutor's office and the Lucerne police are to move into the building.<\/p>\n

Just under one third office space<\/h3>\n

Up to now, the individual departments have been housed in various properties, some of which are in need of modernization. However, the new building is not an administrative building in the true sense of the word. Only 30 % of the total floor space is intended for office use. 45 % are for laboratories, workshop and the detention center. 25 % are to be available for general use. (rh)<\/em><\/p>\n
