If the Zurich Cantonal Council has its way, solar installations are to become mandatory for new buildings. For existing buildings, an obligation to retrofit is planned: Buildings in industrial and commercial zones, as well as in zones for public buildings, are to be retrofitted by 2035, according to the plans, provided the roof surfaces are suitable. For buildings in all other zones, there will be no fixed deadline, but a retrofitting obligation only in the case of renovations.<\/p>\n

A corresponding parliamentary initiative (PI) by the SP, GLP, Greens, AL and EVP received 81 votes in the Cantonal Council. At least 60 votes are required for provisional support. The PI will now be assigned to a commission, which will, among other things, prepare the proposal. Subsequently, the cantonal council will deal with the business again.<\/p>\n

Proponents of the proposal pursue the goal of promoting the energy turnaround through the construction of solar plants on roofs.
