The city of Thun is planning a new residential quarter with a park together with the Bern Pension Fund BPK and Frutiger AG. The necessary zoning ordinance was adapted during the consultation process and is now with the canton for preliminary examination.<\/p>\n

In Bostudenzelg in the southeastern part of the Neufeld quarter, one of the last contiguous undeveloped building zones in the city of Thun is to be redeveloped. According to the city, the area on Bubenbergstrasse and Bl\u00e4uerstrasse is 45,000 square meters in size and half of it belongs to the city. The owners of the other half are BPK and Frutiger AG. Together, the parties are planning a sustainable and future-oriented residential project with a large, publicly accessible park.<\/p>\n

The consultation process for the \"Bostudenzelg Bl\u00e4uerstrasse\" zoning ordinance (UeO) required for this took place in August and September 2022. According to the City of Thun, 16 submissions were received, which prompted the planning office to clarify and adapt the documents. However, the majority of the contributors welcomed the development of the new residential quarter, especially that non-profit housing with community uses would be created. At least 75 percent of the residential use on city-owned land is planned for non-profit housing.<\/p>\n

The development regulations were submitted for cantonal preliminary examination at the beginning of 2023, and the public plan is expected to be published in the summer\/autumn. The city of Thun is currently preparing the allocation of building rights, while Frutiger AG and BPK are developing the building project for their plots in parallel.
