The formerly commercially used Lysb\u00fcchel area near the St. Johann train station is to be developed into a mixed-use neighborhood over the next few years. What this might look like is now becoming apparent. The landowner SBB has held project competitions for construction sites 2.3 and 2.4, and the winners have now been selected.<\/p>\n

The proposal \"Pila di Volta\" by ARGE Donet Sch\u00e4fer Reimer Architekten with Takt Baumanagement convinced the jury for construction site 2.3. It envisages an eight-story residential building with stacking of different units thinning out towards the top. This will allow for the creation of around 100 apartments in various sizes. To take noise protection and building sustainability into account, the planners envisage, among other things, a walkable, green roof. There will also be so-called ruderal areas that can become habitats and retreats for rare and endangered species. The facade will be greened and equipped with a photovoltaic system. In order to promote the networking of the residents, a communal courtyard and a communal roof terrace are planned; a city loggia will be formed facing the city park.<\/p>\n

The \"kandalama\" project by Salath\u00e9 Architekten from Basel is to be implemented on construction site 2.4. The commercial building is to become a hinge between the residential use, the track park, the street and the industry. On the one hand, it creates a clear border to the north with the commercial uses in the industrial zone, according to the SBB. On the other hand, an inner courtyard and a cross connection will reconnect the various uses. Inside the building, freely divisible and furnishable office and commercial spaces are planned, and large, covered outdoor areas are to be created on all floors.<\/p>\n

SBB also announces that it has concluded a building lease agreement with the Wohnbau-Genossenschaft Nordwest WGN for construction site 2.2. Together with WG Jurablick, the cooperative wants to develop a new building that is geared towards young, communal living and working. Larger apartments, self-build residential studios, student shared apartments and other, innovative forms of living are planned, according to SBB.
