The building on Kr\u00e4hb\u00fchlstrasse with its distinctive observation tower is listed in the inventory of protected objects of art and cultural history of communal importance and was used by Meteo Schweiz until 2014. Most recently, it housed various temporary uses. The building on Ackermannstrasse is used by the federal government itself.<\/p>\n<p>According to the City of Zurich, a private individual offered CHF 31.06 million for the property in the bidding process. Since the canton or municipality where the property is located has a pre-emptive right to purchase the property at the market price in the case of federal property sales, the City of Zurich took action. According to the city of Zurich, an agreement was reached with the federal government that 28.99 million of the 31.06 million will be due for the time being. For the remaining amount, the federal government will receive a profit-sharing right: if the city later resells the property, it will pay the federal government a profit share in this amount. The City Council has already approved the purchase agreement and an urgent supplementary credit.<\/p>\n<p>In the opinion of the City of Zurich, the property is particularly suitable for residential construction due to its location and zoning.
