Boillat\/hotelleriesuisse.ch)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The tourism regions of Graub\u00fcnden (-16.3%), Bern (-10.9%), Valais (-8.8%), Lucerne\/Lake Lucerne (-7.8%) and Bernese Oberland (-7.0%) were the hardest hit. Basel, on the other hand, recorded the highest growth with an increase of 9.9%, followed by Jura\/Tri-Lakes Region (+5.0%).<\/p>\n<p>The number of overnight stays by European guests fell by 11.2% in January, while there was a slight decrease in non-European guests from China (-1.0%). According to the FSO, domestic demand has been trending downwards since August 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The main reasons for the decline in January were the unfavorable snow conditions and the lack of good weather periods in the vacation regions.
