The project competition for the transformation of the L\u00fcdin site in Liestal was won by the proposal Altstadtblick by Steib Gm\u00fcr Geschwentner Kyburz from Zurich. An ensemble of three rows of houses is to be built on the 6,000 square meter site between Bahnhofsstrasse, Rheinstrasse and Sch\u00fctzenstrasse, where the production buildings of the L\u00fcdin company currently stand. Around 135 apartments and commercial space facing Rheinstrasse and Sch\u00fctzenstrasse are planned.<\/p>\n

The CS REF Siat real estate fund of Credit Suisse acquired the site this year from L\u00fcdin AG. First Site Invest AG from Basel has been commissioned with the site development.<\/p>\n

An important area in terms of urban development<\/h2>\n

The currently closed L\u00fcdin site plays an important role in terms of urban development because it is centrally located between the train station and the old town. In order to bring the two areas together, new passageways through the quarter are planned. In addition, the development is to create the volume jump between the large-scale buildings at the tracks and the much smaller-scale old town.<\/p>\n

The Altstadtblick project succeeds in this; the jury unanimously chose it as the competition winner.<\/p>\n

Specifically, the architects' office proposes up to seven-story flat-roof buildings on the side of the site facing the train station. Three lower pitched-roof buildings with apartments are planned on a second level, and a row of two-story studio and commercial buildings is envisaged facing the Orisbach stream. The bank of the adjacent Orisbach will be transformed into a recreation zone. Instead of the parking fields there, about 80 parking spaces are planned in an underground garage.<\/p>\n

The two suburban houses and the L\u00fcdin House from the 1950s at Rheinstrasse 3 will not be demolished; they will remain. Apartments are planned in the former administration building.<\/p>\n

A neighborhood plan is now to be developed on the basis of the project. Construction could begin at the end of 2023. (ah)<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
