For the project, Implenia is ceding Hall 52 on the Sulzer site to Siska Heuberger. At the same time, Implenia will build the new center of the Department of Health at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) as a total contractor. The lease for the new building, which Implenia had already signed with the canton of Zurich in April 2013, will also be transferred to the new owner.<\/p>\n

The project will comply with the guidelines of the SIA Energy Efficiency Path 2040, meet the Minergie standard and do without parking spaces. Around 24,500 square meters of floor space are planned, distributed over six above-ground floors.<\/p>\n

For the design of the new building, Implenia held an architectural competition in spring 2013 together with the city of Winterthur, the canton of Zurich and the ZHAW. It was won by the Zurich-based firm pool Architekten. The industrial history of the site is documented by the partial preservation of the crane runway running alongside the building and by the protection of the neighboring Hall 53. In addition, the new facade facing Katharina-Sulzer-Platz continues to take account of the structures of the old building.<\/p>\n

From mid-2016, the demolition work and the partial remediation of contaminated sites will begin, so that, once the building permit has been obtained, implementation can probably start at the beginning of 2017.<\/p>\n

Progress is also being made with the other projects on the Sulzer site. For Plant 1, Implenia started the first architectural competition with the city of Winterthur in mid-December 2015. The jury has approved the study program for construction sites 3, 5b, and 5c and selected six architectural teams. The winning project will be presented in the middle of the year. With the study contract, Implenia is creating the basis for an architecturally high-quality and sustainable residential development. The project is being planned in accordance with the goals of the 2000-watt society. Around 300 apartments will be built on site 3.
