The Sunday newspaper<\/em> S\u00e9bastien Bazin said that the number of M\u00f6venpick hotels would soon increase by 42 from today's 85, with another 30 to 40 properties to be added in the coming years.<\/p>\n

He said the growth will mainly take place in Asia, the Middle East and South America, but expansion is also planned in Switzerland. According to Bazin, the number of hotels in this country is to increase by 20 to 25%, and he named the cities of Zurich, Basel and Geneva as expansion targets.<\/p>\n

In Switzerland, Accorhotels is considered to be\u00a0HTR Hotel Revue<\/em> as market leader. The group controls 30% of all hotel beds in Zurich, Basel, Lausanne and Geneva with brands such as Ibis, Mercure, Novotel, Sofitel, Swiss\u00f4tel and M\u00f6venpick, the industry magazine said. In total, 38 brands with more than 4,800 hotels worldwide belong to the French Accor Group.<\/p>\n

M\u00f6venpick had sold its hotel division to Accor last year for CHF 560 million.<\/a> M\u00f6venpick Hotels & Resorts, founded in Switzerland in 1973, operates 84 upscale hotels in 27 countries and has a particularly strong presence in Europe and the Middle East.
