The Stadthaus district comprises many individual properties, all of which are owned by the city. The northern part is in urgent need of renovation and some buildings are in danger of collapsing, according to the City of Schaffhausen. This northern part is to be handed over to an investor and developed under building rights.<\/p>\n

A preliminary project, which proved the feasibility of the project, includes apartments, offices or surgeries, stores, a wine cellar, a caf\u00e9 or wine bar and a restaurant. A publicly accessible monastery garden is to be created in the middle of the area. The investment volume for this project is estimated at CHF 11.7 million. In order to ensure the economic viability of the building leaseholder, the city council is requesting start-up financing: the existing property is to be sold for one franc and the city is to waive the building lease fee for the first ten years.<\/p>\n

New construction and renovations for the city administration<\/h2>\n

In the southern part of the Stadthaus district, the existing administrative properties \"Stadthaus\" and \"Eckstein\" are to be renovated and connected with a new building. Two storeys are also to be added to the \"Eckstein\" property. This will create space for around 165 workstations. The new administrative buildings should be ready for occupation in 2024.<\/p>\n

According to the information provided, the investment volume will amount to 23.1 million - this would be offset by vacated space worth 13 million. Following the relocation of the administrative departments to the Stadthausgeviert, the properties \"Grosses Haus\", \"zum K\u00e4fig\", \"Freudenfels\" and \"Ritter\", which are currently used by the administration, will be available for new use. Only the city archives in the \"Grosses Haus\" and the historic wedding rooms in the \"Freudenfels\" will not be integrated into the town hall district.
