The planned large cinema in the west of Chur is highly controversial. It was supposed to open in the middle of this year, but construction has not even begun. The Grisons Administrative Court ruled in May that the cinema could be built, but the complainants had appealed the ruling to the Federal Supreme Court and asked for suspensive effect.<\/p>\n

Like SRF<\/em> first reported<\/a>, the Federal Court has ruled that the appeal has no suspensive effect, because the complainants would not suffer any serious disadvantages if the cinema were to be built. Theoretically, construction of the large cinema could now begin, but the Federal Court has not yet ruled on the matter. If it ultimately approves the appeal, the developer would have to adapt the building afterwards or possibly even dismantle it.<\/p>\n

It was not clear at first whether construction would now get underway. Domenig Immobilien AG, which is behind the planned complex, had not yet taken a closer look at the next steps, but was pleased with the Federal Supreme Court's decision, SRF said.<\/p>\n

According to earlier information, the cinema complex is to be built on a plot of land on Sommeraustrasse along the railroad line, next to the Coop Bau und Hobby building supplies store. The foyer and restaurants on the top floor of the structure are to be connected to the City West shopping center via a passarelle.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
