In addition to the modernization of the port infrastructure, the canton and the SRH also have their sights set on urban development with an orientation towards the water.<\/p>\n<p>To this end, the trimodal terminal Gateway Basel Nord with a new port basin 3 is to be built on the site of the Baden marshalling yard; modernization and optimization of the spatial location of the port railroad is also planned. The port core area on the east, south and north quays as well as port basins 1 and 2 with the associated water areas and infrastructures will remain secured in the long term at the current location and accessible by rail.<\/p>\n<p>The urban development areas - Klybeckquai, Westquai Island and the Dreil\u00e4ndereck including the bridgehead at the turning basin - are to be gradually converted and transformed.
