In Lucerne's Schweighof neighborhood, a new building is being constructed with only student apartments (Source: davincidig - depositphotos)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The plan is for a five-story building with five-room apartments, each of which will be shared by four students. The building is being constructed on the northern edge of the quarter and will be realized in one stage together with four other buildings. A study competition was launched for these five buildings, in which building with wood was explicitly specified. The first students are expected to move into the new building in early summer 2021.<\/p>\n

The Student Mentor Foundation Lucerne, which will operate the dormitory, was looking for another location due to high demand, according to Foundation Board President Dr. Hans M\u00fcller. The foundation operates a location in Eichhof, which is almost completely occupied. The Schweighof neighborhood is considered an optimal location for a residential offering for students. \"Horw is already home to educational institutions of the Canton of Lucerne, and more educational institutions will follow there,\" M\u00fcller says. \"In the direction of Lucerne, the new music academy is being built, and the city of Lucerne, with its university, technical colleges and training opportunities, is very well connected by train, bus and bicycle.\"<\/p>\n

With Schweighof in the south of Lucerne, an urban quarter is being created with 17 residential buildings and four commercial and service buildings on an area of 67,000 sqm. The total investment volume is estimated at around CHF 500 million. Investors are Suva, the Lucerne Pension Fund, PKG Pension Fund, Ringpark AG\/Linsi AG, Schweighofpark AG (Theiler-Buholzer community of heirs) and the St. Anna Foundation.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
