Implenia: Several Contracts for Renovation Projects
Among the projects Implenia has announced are the conversion of an office building into apartments in Zurich and the expansion of the Shopping-Arena in St. Gallen.

Implenia has announced several contracts for the modernization of existing properties in Western and German-speaking Switzerland, as well as in Germany. The total contract value for Implenia exceeds CHF 180 million. One of the projects involves converting offices into apartments for Implenia Vorsorge: On Zypressenstrasse in Zurich, an existing commercial property is being transformed into a rental building with 53 apartments. The existing concrete building will undergo structural reinforcement and be expanded with a two-story wooden addition. Implenia is aiming for SNBS Gold certification. The project was developed by Implenia’s Real Estate Development team. Work is set to begin in July 2026 and is expected to last until mid-2028. The exact address is likely to be Zypressenstrasse 60.
ZKB's Assignment in Lausanne
Implenia has been awarded a contract by Zürcher Kantonalbank Asset Management to renovate two historic residential properties at 39–41 Avenue de France in Lausanne. The project includes energy-efficiency upgrades, the modernization of technical systems, and the complete renovation of the existing apartments. In addition, new apartments will be created in the attic, and the building will be brought up to current standards for seismic safety and fire protection. The work will be carried out while the building remains occupied and is scheduled to begin in June 2026. It is expected to last until March 2029.

Expansion of the Shopping Arena in St. Gallen
On behalf of Swiss Prime Site (SPS), Implenia is modernizing and expanding the «Shopping Arena St. Gallen» as the general contractor. Approximately ten new stores and an additional 700 square meters of retail space are being built on the second basement level. In addition, the entire mall is being modernized—with light-colored wood ceilings, new skylights, and improved connections between floors. «With around five million visitors annually, Eastern Switzerland’s largest shopping center is thereby strengthening its position as a leading shopping and entertainment destination,» writes Implenia. The renovation will take place while the mall remains open for business; all stores will remain accessible. Construction is set to begin in early May 2026, and the work is expected to last until October 2027.
As general planner and general contractor, Implenia has also been awarded a contract by an unnamed institutional owner for the energy-efficiency retrofit of 14 properties in the Lausanne region. The contract includes replacing the energy generation systems, retrofitting the building envelopes, and evaluating development opportunities such as adding stories and expanding the buildings. In addition, the buildings will be brought up to current safety and fire protection standards. The project will run from 2026 to 2031. Implenia has also been commissioned for additional renovation projects in eastern Germany, among other locations.
