Remms: DGNB brings rating system to Germany
The system established in Switzerland for evaluating real estate in terms of sustainability is also to be introduced across the board on the German market.

The German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is introducing the Remms assessment system established in Switzerland to Germany. Together with the association of the same name, which developed the system for assessing the sustainability of buildings in Switzerland, and the Institute for Construction Management at the University of Stuttgart, the DGNB is currently working on adapting Remms for Germany. «The aim of the collaboration is to adapt the Remms model specifically for Germany with data models and benchmarks,» the DGNB announced. This includes the integration of data available in Germany, taking into account its organizational structure and legal framework. As in Switzerland, a «Remms4All» offer is also to be created in Germany, which will enable small owners and private individuals to obtain a one-off Remms assessment of their own property free of charge.
The «Real Estate Metarating and Monitoring on Sustainability» is a system established in Switzerland for the automated, data-based and public welfare-oriented sustainability assessment of buildings and portfolios. It is fundamentally based on the areas of ecology, economy and social aspects and takes into account not only the property to be assessed but also its immediate surroundings and the location.
The DGNB was founded in 2007 and has developed one of the largest international certification systems for sustainable building alongside Leed and Bream. In Switzerland, the Swiss Sustainable Building Council (SGNI) certifies according to the DGNB system. (aw)
