Ports Francs et Entrepôts de Genève (PFEG) announces the construction of a new building with a gross floor area of 15,188 square meters. The Minergie P-compliant building will be located in the duty-free area and will increase the site's storage capacity by around 10%. Commissioning is planned for the end of 2027.

The building is being constructed in Lancy, adjacent to the company's headquarters. It is designed in particular for the storage or restoration of works of art and high-quality goods. The designs by GLAA SA emerged as the winner of an architectural competition. HRS Real Estate is realizing the building as general contractor. The preparatory work has already begun. Commissioning is planned for December 2027.

Six storeys

The new building comprises a technical basement, a raised first floor with mezzanine, four storeys and a green attic storey. The metal façade encloses storage areas with strictly controlled climatic conditions. A gas-based extinguishing system without water ensures the safety of the collections.

Sustainability features include a geothermal heat pump and a roof completely covered with photovoltaic modules. The complex will be equipped with five delivery ramps and goods elevators with a capacity of 3.5 and 5 tons. The new building will free up space in PFEG's historic infrastructure for renovation projects. (aw)
