Basel: Start of construction for two projects on Volta Nord
The consortium partners Losinger Marazzi and Frutiger intend to start construction of a further residential and office building on the site in June.
Losinger Marazzi, together with consortium partner Frutiger AG, was awarded the contract for the two construction sites 2.3 and 2.4 of the Volta Nord site in Basel as part of a tender and signed the TU works contracts with SBB Immobilien in May. Construction site 2 is divided into four separate construction sites; the consortium has already been working on construction site 2.1 since autumn 2024.
Building 2.3 is a purely rental apartment building with 96 apartments. Building 2.4 will create around 25,000 square meters of flexible office space on seven floors using a timber hybrid construction method. Construction is due to start in June. First occupancy of the apartments and commercial space has been announced for April 2027.
Building site 2 extends over an area of around 19,000 square meters. It is intended to form a harmonious transition from the focus on working to the focus on living on Volta Nord. An angular eight-storey residential and commercial building with around 102 apartments as well as a service floor and a first floor with retail space is being built on sub-plot 2.1, which is already under construction.
