Migros plans to thin out its network of electronics stores

Migros has announced a new strategy and a site analysis for its Melectronics subsidiary.

From the fall onwards, Melectronics intends to increasingly restrict its range in the stationary trade to the area of household electronics. This will be accompanied by an effort to move "closer to the Migros supermarket in terms of area". This means that shop-in-shop branches are to be created in place of the current stand-alone Melectronics stores.

The consequence of the realignment is that a location analysis now has to be carried out. A "streamlining" of the branch network is planned. According to Migros, there are about 100 stores in the chain. (aw)
