Winterthur: Terresta is renovating 368 apartments
A residential complex is undergoing an eight-year renovation costing approximately 80 million Swiss francs. The project is focused on «reuse.».
In Winterthur-Wülflingen, work will begin in July on the first residential buildings in the Burgstrasse development, which Terresta is renovating while residents remain in their homes. The renovation of all 368 apartments on Burgstrasse, Eckwiesenstrasse, and Oberfeldstrasse is planned to take place in eight phases over eight years.
The first phase involves four buildings with 47 apartments. «Like all the buildings in the Burgstrasse development, they have not undergone comprehensive renovation since they were built in the 1950s and 1960s, which is why there is a great need for action,» writes Terresta. The renovation will focus on «reuse»: «Kitchen cabinets will be refurbished rather than replaced, undamaged sinks will be reused, and existing interior doors will be repainted,» the statement says.
For planning reasons, the renovation of the first four buildings will take place in two phases: interior renovations will be carried out in 2026, and exterior renovations (facade and balconies) in 2027. Starting with Phase 2, scheduled for 2027, all work will be carried out during the summer months of that year. The architectural firm Atelier ORA is responsible for the overall planning and architecture, while Westpol Landschaftsarchitektur is responsible for the design of the outdoor spaces. The total cost of renovating the entire residential complex is expected to amount to approximately 80 million CHF.
