The foundation stone for the «Chez Fritz» high-rise building has been laid in Buchs (SG). The St.Gallen Pension Fund (SGPK) is realizing the project together with HRS Real Estate AG. The new construction project will include a total of 112 apartments and commercial space in the immediate vicinity of the train station. Its height makes it one of the most striking new buildings in the region. «With »Chez Fritz', we are investing in a centrally located site and creating additional space for living and working," says Mesut Schmid, Head of Real Estate and member of the Executive Board of SGPK.

The first high-rise ideas for the site were developed back in the 1990s. More concrete planning attempts followed around 2007 and 2010, but neither project was pursued further. From 2013, HRS developed the current high-rise project together with Staufer & Hasler Architekten. After many years of legal and planning procedures, the final building permit was granted in 2025. Excavation and foundation work is currently underway and the high-rise building is scheduled for completion in 2029.
