Arth: «Hotel des Alpes» to be converted into apartments

The investor Christoph Schoop is creating a total of 17 condominiums in the historic hotel and in additional buildings.

On Mount Rigi in the canton of Schwyz, the historic «Hotel des Alpes», built in 1899, is being converted into apartments. According to the Christoph Schoop Group, which acquired the property in an auction three years ago, a total of 17 residential units in the luxury segment are being created under the project name «Rigi des Alpes». There are five 3.5- and 4.5-room apartments in the historic «Turmhaus», a further four 2.5- and 3.5-room units in an extension, while the new «Chalet» building offers four 3.5- and 4.5-room apartments and four detached «Wikkelhäuser» small apartments with 1.5 rooms each. Completion is scheduled for this summer. Construction began in May 2025. According to Claudio Herger from the construction company Herger Home GmbH in Altdorf, the construction costs amount to CHF 10 million.

The «Hotel des Alpes» stood empty for around 20 years. IB last reported here about the property in a mountain location at 1,404 m. (aw)
