On October 30, construction work begins on a new office building on the corner of Schanzenstrasse and Spitalstrasse in Basel. The Basel Research Center for Child Health (BRCCH), a research institute for child and adolescent health, will move in. In the immediate vicinity of the two university hospitals UKBB and USB as well as the University of Basel's Schällemätteli Life Sciences Campus, the canton is constructing an office building designed as a research center for child and adolescent medicine. Launched in 2019 and financed by the Fondation Botnar, the BRCCH is supported by the University of Basel and ETH Zurich.

The new eight-storey office building by Guerra Clauss Architekten will accommodate around 90 workstations. The existing building will be demolished by spring 2026, after which the new building will be constructed by the end of 2027.
