The non-profit developers Logis Suisse, Habitare, Gewona, WGN, Mietshäusersyndikat and Homebase have celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the "Zentrale Pratteln" project. The shell for the complex with 470 apartments was completed in just over a year. The first apartments are expected to be ready for occupation from the end of 2026.

The project includes the construction of an ice storage facility - reportedly the largest in Switzerland - and the roofs will be fitted with solar panels. The development will produce around 80 % of the required energy itself. A large 7,600 square meter inner courtyard will be created in the middle of the development.

Following the completion of the first stage of refurbishment of the commercial block, the first lettings have taken place. The approximately 10,000 sqm of space is intended for local services, production, crafts, gastronomy and culture.

The quarter is being built on the approximately 43,000 m² site of a former Coop distribution center in Pratteln (BL). Logis Suisse acquired the industrial site in 2016 and is developing it into an urban quarter together with five other developers to whom it has handed over building plots. The district plan is based on the urban planning concept by Bachelard Wagner Architekten from Basel and Raderschall Landschaftsarchitektur from Meilen. (aw)
