The St. Gallen real estate developer Fortimo has submitted the planning application for its project in Grindelwald. Three different hotel concepts with around 700 beds are to be built on the site of the vacant traditional Hotel Regina. Once completed, the hotels will be operated by the Fortimo subsidiary Revier Hospitality Group. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026.

According to the plans, the existing building of the Regina Hotel will be restored and partially rebuilt - Fortimo refers to this as a "reconstruction". According to the announcement, the planned 96 rooms and suites will be operated in the five-star range. In the area of the current Regina suite house, a "new generation hotel" of the Revier brand with around 110 rooms is to be built in timber construction. A chalet resort with around 50 apartments in five apartment buildings is planned for the lower part of the site. This is to be realized along the lines of the Priva Alpine Lodge in Lenzerheide (GR).

Fortimo has owned the hotel site near Grindelwald railroad station since 2022. According to earlier reports, the eastern Swiss company bought the property at auction for CHF 18.5 million. (aw)
