Zurich: Winning project for residential buildings on RAD site selected
Mobimo plans to create 150 rental and owner-occupied apartments on part of the former industrial site in Oerlikon.

Mobimo has held an overall performance competition with five teams for its construction project on part of the RAD site in Zurich Oerlikon. Following a revision round with two finalists, the unanimous decision of the jury has now been announced. The winning project was submitted by Michael Meier Marius Hug Architekten, HRS Real Estate and Studio Vulkan. Their plans, which are intended to replace two old assembly halls in the residential zone of the historic industrial site, include a new building and the renovation of an existing building. The project will create around 150 residential units of different apartment types. "The buildings blend in harmoniously with the industrial site and at the same time create a generous green space to the existing residential buildings in the neighborhood," says Mobimo, describing the advantages of the design.
Both rental apartments and condominiums are to be built. According to current plans, the entire project is expected to be completed in 2030, writes Mobimo. "Thanks to its prime location in the immediate vicinity of Zurich Oerlikon train station, the approximately 11,000 square meter site is one of the top locations in the Zurich metropolitan area," the listed real estate company said in its press release.
