St. Moritz: Norman Foster redesigns Kulm Hotel
The London architect's office is in charge of several conversions costing a total of 125 million Swiss francs.

The Kulm Hotel in St. Moritz is launching a CHF 125 million renovation project based on a master plan by London architects Foster + Partners. The aim is to combine the historical substance with contemporary architecture and sustainability, according to the Graubünden luxury hotel.
Over a period of around six to seven years, the public areas on the first floor of the hotel and the entrance area will be gradually modernized. This includes a newly designed arrivals area, a restaurant with winter garden, terrace areas with views of Lake St. Moritz, a new event area, an easily accessible underground parking garage and an external shopping arcade. The lobby lounge is also to be "carefully renovated". The focus is not only on guest comfort, but also on new offers and a better quality of stay for the local population and visitors. The modernization will also focus on sustainability issues.
According to the hotel management, construction work will start at the beginning of 2026 once the official approval process has been completed and will be carried out without interrupting operations. The five-star hotel is one of the most traditional in the Swiss Alps and has 150 rooms, a 9-hole golf course, six restaurants and a 2,000 square meter spa area. (aw)
