Power Integrations' new production building in Biel covers a total of 4,600 square meters and includes office and laboratory space as well as an SMT (surface mounted technology) line for developing prototypes for the company's products. The plant in Biel specializes in so-called gate drivers, which are used, for example, in solar and wind energy or in electric locomotives.

According to Power Integrations, the investment in the site amounts to 20 million US dollars, the equivalent of around 18.5 million CHF. Currently, around 60 employees work for the company in Biel, but the number of employees is to be expanded in the coming years.

The new Swiss headquarters of Power Integrations was designed and built by Biel-based GLS Architects. (ah)
